Introduced on IDIOTEQ in September 2020, Helsingborg, Sweden based post metal band KOLLAPS/E have shared their new 2 song single dubbed “The Pandemic Sessions”. Often, albums that are considered extreme art statements upon their debut sound almost quaint a few years later, but while Kollaps perhaps sounds less extreme to ears that heard industrial music turned into disco pabulum by the likes of Nine Inch Nails than it did before, songs like the eight-minute title track and the rumbling live closer, "Negativ Nein," are still a fascinating blend of rhythm and random bashing, tonality and atonality, with anguished vocals by Blixa Bargeld that often Equally as revered as they are an anathema to audiences worldwide, the oppressive noise wall crafted by Kollaps has cemented the band in the history pages of industrial music. Kollaps' live shows are known for their vehement and visceral nature where their destructivist ideology manifests into self-mutilation, vitriolic, and violent live performances. Since the band takes it’s name from the song and album by Einsturzende Neubauten, do you feel there are similarities to the way Kollaps creates music, despite the obvious? We’re very different bands from very different times however a similarity that we do both share is that both acts are a band effort which seems to currently be unusual in industrial music. Inspired by the likes of Breach, Cult of Luna, and Neurosis, KOLLAPS\E is the newest post-metal quartet from Helsingborg, Sweden, blending and embracing many different shades of the genre and promising intricate re-imagining of the style.
